In the middle of the romanticism of the love songs of the 70’s, Leo Miches Amador “El Papichulo”, tells his story; and his introduction into the radio industry.

“El Papichulo” was born in Miches, Dominican Republic in 1973; son to the singer, musician and songwriter Amador de La Cruz y Mrs. Leticia Morales. From a very young age he felt the urge to be apart of the entertainment world.

For Leo, parties and festivals were a way of life. When he was 8 years old, his father, become the proprietor of a bar and designated Leo as the official DJ of it. That was his first opportunity to show his talent as a host. Besides, playing music, he would entertain the clientele by talking on the microphone and presenting the local bands from time to time that brightened up the celebrations. And so it begins as they say.…

At the age of twelve, his greatest mentor and inspiration; his father, became ill and passed away. Although, only a child and being the oldest male of the house, he found himself in the position of taking on the responsibilities of the household.

Not long after, at the age of thirteen, he was presented with one of the biggest opportunities in his short experience in the world of entertainment. He was invited to be the host for one of the most popular merengue bands; “Las Chicas del Can” at the local festivals of his town. The public welcomed him as if he was one of the greatest hosts ever.

When fourteen, he was recognized as a honor roll student by, Dr. Joaquin Balaguer, the President of the Dominican Republic at the time, for which he was awarded with a bicycle.

A year later, the reality of life started to set in and he began to realize that there was no future or hopes of accomplishing his dreams in the Dominican Republic; so he decided to emigrate to Puerto Rico illegally.

Within only two months of his arrival to the neighboring island, he had the opportunity to participate in the famous Puerto Rican soap opera “Aventurera”; casted alongside the leading rolls of Carlos Vives and Sully Diaz. During his short stay in Puerto Rico he worked as an extra in various TV shows, like: Entrando por La Cocina, El Candongo Express, and others. After only 8 months there, he felt that there was not much future here either for him and his dreams so he set his sights on “The Big Apple,” in search of still yet accomplishing his goals in becoming a major MC in the entertainment industry. For the years to come he worked as an MC in different night clubs in the metropolitan area, while putting himself through college. Two years later he graduated with a degree in Business Administration, now armed with this recently acquired knowledge he founded his own company Miches Entertainment LLC.; which provides service to clients like: Café Bustelo, Budwieser, Univision and Dunkin Donuts and many others.

In the year 2000, he became apart of the radio chain Spanish Broadcasting Systems (SBS). Leo began on the radio station 93.1 Amor, where he worked as a co-producer of “Hola New York,” one of the most popular morning shows in New York City. Also, at the same time he had a radio show Saturdays and Sundays called “Noches Romanticas con Leo Amador”.

The story behind how he became known as “El Papichulo” all began when he ended up dating and living with three women at one time. Since people like to talk and news travels fast he was invited to El Show de Cristina for an interview to find out how it was possible for all 4 of them to coexist in the same house, at the same time, without the women arguing or being jealous of each other.

As a result of this interview and the controversy surrounding this arrangement, he was invited to other TV shows and programs, like: Despierta America, Primer Impacto, Ver Para Creer, Don Francisco Presenta for interviews, as well as be invited back to El Show de Cristina on two other occasions. He also participated in three videos for Las Chicas Locas and many others.

In the year 2002, the morning show “El Vacilon de La Mañana” found out about Leo’s “El Papichulo” lifestyle and decided to invite for an interview. From that moment on he became part of the El Vacilon de La Mañana’s Team.

“El Papichulo” auditioned for the TV show “Mapiando” produced by Pilar Montenegro, ex-producer of “Sabado Gigante” and was selected to host the show on the Cadena Azteca Americana.

Throughout his career, he was the host to many clubs like “El Copacabana” in New York and “Sand Bar” in New Jersey as well as many others.

In 2007, Leo created the “Leo Miches Amador foundation” in honor of his parents. It is a scholarship foundation that has already helped more than 2,000 children and continues to do so by contributing money to school expenses for underprivileged children within 4 schools in his hometown of Miches, Dominican Republic.

Bringing us to August 2008, with a deteriorating economy the company SBS that Leo worked for decided to cut its workforce, causing Leo to be “laid off.” (In other words and between us he was fired, they couldn’t afford to keep paying his salary.)

Currently, he is working with the radio station “La Nueva Fiesta 98.5, 96.9” where he produces, conducts and presents the show “El Bachatazo”.

Despite all his accomplishments, Leo “El Papichulo” Miches Amador is constantly pursuing new endeavors and dreams in a world where only the strong survive….

Leo Miches Amador "El Papichulo" empieza narrar

Su historia y detalladamente sus inicios en la radio.

"El Papichulo" nació en Miches, República

Dominicana en el año 1973. Hijo del cantante, músico y compositor Amador De La Cruz y de la señora Leticia Morales, desde muy pequeño sintio la inquietud por el mundo del entretenimiento.

  Para Leo las fiestas y los festivales eran algo del diario vivir. Con apenas ocho años de edad se le presentó la primera oportunidad de demostrar su talento como presentador. A sus nueve años su padre compra un bar y es ahí donde todo comienza.

  Leo es escogido por su padre para ser el D.J. Todas las noches hablaba por el micrófono, ponía música y entre veces presentaba a las orquestas que amenizaban las fiestas. Con apenas 12 anos su padre enferma y muere quien era para el su mas grande mentor y quien le enseno todo. A esa edad el se ve en la necesidad de afrentar la responsabilidad de la casa siendo el, el mas grande de los varones.

  Ya cumplido sus 13 anos le llego una de sus opportunities mas grande de su corta edad en las fiesta patronales del su pueblo natal se le invito para que presentara a las fomosas chicas del can que en aquel entonces eran las mas pegada del momento. El publico lo recibio como todo un buen presentador.

  A los catorce años el presidente de la República Dominicana en ese entonces el señor Dr. Joaquín Balaguer, lo invita a un acto y le regala una bicicleta por ser tan sobresaliente en la escuela.

Un año despues las cosas empeoran y Leo no ve futuro en lo que le gusta hacer en su pequeno pueblo por lo que Leo decide emigrar a Puerto Rico ilegalmente.

  Con solo dos meses de estar en la isla se le da la oportunidad de trabajar en la famosa telenovela "Aventurera" protagonizada por

Carlos Vives y Sully Díaz. Es su estadia en Puerto rico trabajo como extra en varios shows de television entrando por la cocina, el candongo express entre otros. Despues de tan solo 8 meses en Puerto Rico no ve mucho fututo para el alla y decide irse hacia los estados unidos, por lo proximo anos trabajo como maestro de ceremonias en diferente disco del area metropolitana y entra al colegio a terminar su su escuela se graduo de dos anos de administration de empresa y formo su propia compania Miches Entertainment LLC dandole servicios a mas de seis compania, incluyendo, café bustelo, Budweiser, Univision, Dinkins donuts entre otros.

En el año 2000 forma parte de la cadena radial Spanish Broadcasting System (SBS). Empieza trabajando en la emisora 93.1 amor como co-productor de "Hola New York", uno de los shows mañaneros más escuchados en ese entonces en

New York. Por el estilo de vida que llevaba Leo tambien conocido como papichulo quien vivia con tres mujers en mismo hogar el show de cristina lo invita hacerle una entrevista para ver como podia vivir con tres mujeres en la misma casa sin que se peliaran.

  De Ahi en adelante visito:Despierta America Univision, Primer Impacto, Ver para creer, Don Francisco presenta, el show de Cristina en dos ocasiones, hizo tres videos para chicas locas y mucho otros shows de television. En el 2002 El show mañanero "El Vacilón de la Mañana" se entera de que a Leo le llaman " El Papichulo" y de su estilo de vida y deciden entrevistarlo. Desde ese entonces, Leo se unio al equipo del " El Vacilón de la Mañana" en el anos 2007 Leo creo su propia fundacion dedicada a su madre y su padre llamada Fundacion Leo Miches Amador al cual ayuda a mas de dos mil nino s anualmente con su gasto escolares en cuatro diferentes escuelas. Con una economia no muy Buena que digamos la compania SBS decide hacer varios recorte de su personal (y hablando la verdad sin mentir me votaron claro no podian seguir pagan do lo que yo cobraba y punto). Y desde Octubre 2008 me uni a la Nueva Fiesta donde hago el show el "Fiesta Bachatazo" y tambien personalidad del aire entre otros planes que vienen por ahi.

  98. Anna Maria,me gusta que toques la musica Puerto Riquena y le des tributo a tu tierra con orgullo eso es algo que a veces se les ovidan a los jovenes. Yo soy Ecuatoriana pero casado con un Puerto Riqueno en Septiembre cumplimos 40 anos casado y tenemos cuatro hijos adultos me siento orgullosa de ellos y ellos de sus dos nacionalidades Ecuatoriana y Puerto Riquena.
